To help your group and the teachers prepare for the tutor meetings, we would like you to answer a few questions in between sessions. The following paragraphs list the questions for each of the weeks, please write you answers directly underneath the questions.

After the kick-off - Week 1

  • What are you expecting to learn during the Robots course?

User centric design process. Combining 5 different studies into one group. Creating something out of our own mind. Problem solving. Keeping up with a self-made planning.

  • What kind of coaching do you expect?

Critical coaching, warning when our group diverts too much from the goal or when important things are missed. The coach helps guide the project but has no addition to the content of the project.

  • What kind of coaching would you prefer?

Similar to the answer at 2.

  • What will the coaches expect of you?

Working independent of the coach. Taking our own responsibility. Good communication within the group and teamwork. Motivated to perform. If things are going wrong the coach will be contacted.

After the first tutor meeting - Week 2

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

Try to make our problem more concrete, less general, dont make our problem too big.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We tried to focus more on a specific problem instead of a general idea, even tried to make the problem too specific, as the feedback suggested.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

Thought about new, more specific ideas for our project. We have three options but we are not sure this ideas are specific enough. It is also important that the prototype can really help blind people in their daily life.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

Made a couple of ideas to present to the tutors, hoping they will be specific enough. Also contacted the tutors to ask for feedback.

After the second tutor meeting - Week 3

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

We took the feedback from the first week too negatively and began with a new problem. This was not necessary if we just concretized the problem we had in the first place. The new scenarios we invented are more concrete. We have a new problem which can be worked out better.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

The coaches really liked the idea of a wearable. Thus we decided to have as a final deliverable a prototype device which can be worn. We also made a good scenario in which the device should be worn.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

We made a good planning for each member of the group, thought of the requirements, specifications and needed technologies of the final prototype, began designing the device, made a bill of materials and thought of the feedback system we need to implement. Parts are also ordered this week.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

A design of a wearable, with a scenario in which it can be used. The requirements, specifications and feedback system to which the device must comply. Prepared questions for the coaches.

After the third tutor meeting - Week 4

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

We have to concretize our idea and give way more details. As we only have 2 weeks left till our product is finished we really have to concretize our design.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We made a new design which is way more specific. We calculated the angles of the sensors and found new problems, which we also solved.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

We made a new design with more details, we ordered the BOM and went shopping for a belt.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?

A more concrete design to show what we want to make exactly.

After the fourth tutor meeting - Week 5

  • What is the most interesting thing you learned in the coaching meeting of the previous week and why?

We can test the vibration system on blind folded persons. We have to do tests to validate if our system is clear and usable.

  • How did you incorporate coaches' feedback of the previous meeting in your project?

We have to make the device more user centered. For this, we have tested what kind of information flows are needed to walk around in case you can't see your environment.

  • What new activities did you undertake during this week? What did you learn from these activities?

We have tested the system on blind folfded persons.

  • What did you do to prepare for next week's meeting?
