Notes

1. Opening - started at 13:45

2. Approve Agenda - point 4: what is our research question, was added to the agenda

3. Findings in the group

During our research for statistics and various information about delivery drones for commercial use we came to the conclusion that it was difficult to prove/disprove the chance that drone delivery will actually work. Time will only tell. On basis of this conclusion we discussed whether or not we should switch topics entirely or find a difference angle to handle the situation. The team ended up deciding that we will stick with our delivery drone system, but build on it. We came up with questions like: how safe is the commercial drone package delivery system? how are packages getting to the right person if a drone drops it off? How will a drone handle a heavily populated urban environment? etc. This led to our next point in the agenda.

4. What is our research question?

Looking at the questions we had produced in connection to drone delivery we concluded that question that peaked our interest the most was: how are packages getting to the right person if a drone drops it off? To make it even more concrete we specified: apartment complexes in particular, and decided to design a mailbox to provide a solution. To read more about our research question: Problem Definition

5. Planning/Milestones

  • Weekly Wiki Tasks
  • Main Tasks
  • "Deliverables"

We planned out the next couple of weeks including deadlines and individual tasks until they became dependent on previous work. We decided that future tasks will be added to the Planning as they come along. Click to see the Planning.

6. Peer Review

We all concluded that the first week was a rough start and that we have to crack down on this project. Not one of us was prepared to be thrown in the deep and churn out a project like this, so we didn't even know where to begin. More mentor support in the first week would have been appreciated. Currently, however, we are happy with what we achieved in this meeting and what is planned to come. We haven't really been able to see each other's strengths and weaknesses in regards to project work because of the hiccup in the first week but we are glad we came together and have tasks divided.

7. Closing - See you guys monday

Tasks for this week:

  • Background research of varying aspects - can be viewed in planning
  • Presentation for Monday
