Openings

Concept 1 - Sliding lid

Concept Description: Sliding doors at the outer end of the entire mailbox. After passing these doors the package is processed further. These doors are placed on a drone landing site. How it works: The delivery drone lands on the contact points located next to the sliding doors. By making contact to the indicated spots the doors will be opened. The drone then drops the package into the mailbox. After the drone completes delivery and leaves, the signal stops and the lid closes and secures.

Concept 2 - Bristles

Concept Description: Opening with bristles on each side, much like a lot of mailboxes have. How it works: The delivery drone lands over the opening with bristles. The opening is raised above the level of the surface it is placed on. When the drone lands over the opening the package gets pushed through the bristles.

Concept 3 - Flap

Concept Description: Opening with flap for closure. How it works: The delivery drone lands on a platform on the side of the building. The package is taken to and through the flap by a conveyor belt.

Concept 1 - Chimney

Concept Description: Chimney that gradually guides package down. How it works: When the package comes into the chimney it gradually moves down. The fall of the package is guided by the flaps sticking out of the sides of the chimney.

Concept 2 - Mill

Concept Description: Chimney with a vertical conveyor belt with hinging platforms. How it works: When the package comes into the chimney it is picked up by the mill. The package is brought down on a platform. The platforms hinge to one side to save room at the backside where no package have to be carried.

Concept 3 - Conveyor belt

Concept Description: Conveyor belt takes package down.. How it works: Package comes onto the inclined conveyor belt. The conveyor belt takes the package further into the system.

Concept Description: Package rolls down over rollers. How it works: Package comes onto the rollers. Package moves from side to side to save space and slow the package down.

Concept 5 - Rotating disks

Concept Description: Package slides down through disks. How it works: The package slides down through the rotating disks. The disks offer some resistance which slows down the package.
